Dr. Emmanouil Manos
Dr. Emmanouil Manos is an Associate Prof. at the Dept. of Chemisty in University of Ioannina. He completed his Ph.D. (2003) from the University of Ioannina, under the supervision of Prof. T. Kabanos. He performed post-doctoral research in the group of Prof. M. G. Kanatzidis at Michigan State and Northwestern University (2004 to end of 2008) and also in the group of Associate Prof. A. Tasiopoulos at the University of Cyprus (2009–2012). His research interests are focused on the development of new functional inorganic and hybrid inorganic-organic materials. He has a broad research experience in various fields including bioinorganic chemistry, oxometallate clusters, solid state/ hydrothermal synthesis and ion-exchange studies of metal chalcogenide materials as well as synthesis, gas/liquid sorption, single crystal to single crystal transformations, photoluminescence and ion-exchange properties of metal organic frameworks. He has also significant expertise in various characterization techniques, such as single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, various spectroscopic techniques, electron microscopy etc.
Dr. Anastasia Pournara
Anastasia Pournara received her degree in biology (2008) and her Ph.D. (2014) in inorganic chemistry from the University of Ioannina, Greece, under the supervision of Prof. D. Kovala- Demertzi. Since 2015, she is a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Dr M. J. Manos at the University of Ioannina. Her research is focused on the synthesis of metal–organic frameworks with interesting ionexchange properties towards organic dyes and heavy metals, as well as the fabrication and study of ion exchange columns based on MOF composites for application in wastewater treatment.
Dimitrios Evangelou, PhD Candidate
Dimitrios Evangelou joined the group of Dr. E. Manos on February 2019. He is a chemist and obtained his bachelor degree (2019) from the Department of Chemistry, University of Ioannina, Greece. He also completed his MSc studies in June 2021. The project of his thesis involves the synthesis, extensive characterization of new MOFs based on trivalent metal ions (In, Al, Fe, La etc.) with sorption and photoluminescence properties towards heavy metals.
Vasiliki Gouma, PhD Candidate
Vasiliki Gouma obtained her bachelor degree in 2018, and her master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry in 2020 from the Chemistry Department of University of Ioannina, under the supervision of Professor D.L. Gkiokas. Since 2021 she is a PhD candidate in the group of Professor D. L. Gkiokas in University of Ioannina. She is collaborating with the research group of Associate Professor E. Manos, and working on Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and their sorption for the removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions.
Vasiliki Karagianni, MSc Student
Vasiliki Karagianni joined the group of Dr. E. Manos on February 2020. She is a chemist and obtained her bachelor degree (2020) from the Department of Chemistry, University of Ioannina, Greece. She joined the master’s program of the Chemistry Department of University of Ioannina in March 2021. The project of her thesis involves the synthesis, characterization of new Metal Chalcogenides and MOFs, and the removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions.
Eleni Makri, MSc Student
Eleni joined the team of Dr. E. Manos on October 2021. After her graduation from the Department of Chemistry (2021, University of Ioannina), she is currently a postgraduate student on master's program <> in University of Ioannina. Her MSc thesis is about synthesis and characterization of Microporous Metal Organic Frameworks for detection and removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions.
